This painting depicts two of Europe's far-right politicians, namely Holland's Geert Wilders and Austria's Norbert Hofer, planning to build a work and detention camp for Muslims. The setting is Hitler’s private library on the second floor of the Old Chancellery in Berlin. On the left hand-side is Geert Wilders and on the right-hand side Norbert Hofer. Read more about the rise of the far-right in Europe: http://bit.ly/2gzvi0w by Glenn Greenwald, the Intercept_, 30 November 2016.

In terms of the visual creativity of the painting, it is inspired by different directions of folk and naïve art such as Bauernmalerei (decorative painting) from the canton of Appenzell in Switzerland (read more: http://www.kunstmuseumsg.ch/en/kunstmuseum/collection/appenzeller-peasant-painting.html) and other more modern adaptions and attempts to create work outside the mainstream, resulting in what is called pseudo-naïve art or faux naïve art.

Note re painting: UNSUCCESSFUL PAINTING
