structure

structure explores the ever changing structure-construction of things. These things are the constructions we live in such as for example social & cultural constructions, modes of behaviour, traditions, repetitive patterns, schools of philosophy and physical constructions such as architectural creations, animals, mountains, lakes. The constructions are in constant interaction and a slight change can trigger a chain of alterations (result of change, causal effects, chaos, interferences etc.). There seems to be an underlying (?variable or constant?) structure that hold together those constructions.

I am interested in the following questions:

  1. What happens if there is a change in structure? What impact and how much of an impact does it have on the constructions and are all the constructions affected by it? How much does a change in structure alter the constructions?

  2. What happens to the structure if there is an initial change in the constructions (eg. change of form or content, removing elements/parameters) and can a change in the constructions actually have an impact on the structure?

  3. Apart from the questions above I would like to explore 'the degrees of deviation': Based on the idea that everything one creates is more or less an act of copying (eg a drawing of a tree -> from a real tree or an imagined tree) with various degrees of deviation (level of abstraction, super realism, conceptual interpretation etc.) I would to examine how elements and changes in construction(s) alter ideas, existing works, images etc.

  4. Further to the third question, structure explores the complex field of chaos and order. See work #5: tribal connections.
